From 2016 until 2021 Projectbureau Herbestemming Kerken was responsible for coordinating the design research for the adaptive reuse of hundreds of parish churches in Flanders. In this framework the beautiful book ‘Herscheppen’ was published by Atelier Bouwmeester, not only to cherish all the research of the different design teams, but also to provide a clear manual for future projects. The book assembles different reflections on the complexity and sensitivity of the topic, which resulted in a multiplicity of design opportunities and creative spatial solutions.
